MOVED BY MALCOLM AT THE ARGAN AMSTEDAM

On the 21st February it is exactly 35 years ago that Malcolm X died. On this date his life will be celebrated in New York and Amsterdam through music and poetry. Simone Zeefuik and Kirsten van den Hul a.k.a. The Change Agent have oranized a revolutionary program that will take place in the Nuyorican Poets Café (New York). Raja Felgata en Najiba Abdellaoui have organized a similar event to be held at the Argan in Amsterdam. Through this event with the aid of music and poetry the aim is to prove that activism is not dead. “If you want something, you had better make some noise.”

TALKSHOW BLACK INK AT PAKHUIS DE ZWIJGER AMSTERDAM

Black Ink is a new monthly talkshow about black identity in Nederland. Together with prominent society leaders and experts Black Ink will discuss a wide range of social issues. The subject up for discussion in the first show will be "Is American influence too dominant in Dutch society?"

Program host will be Clark Accord and guests will include Tweede kamerlid John Leerdam (PvdA), Michelle David, Urwin Vyent and Harriet Duurvoort. Musical guest will be R&B singer Brian Abais.

The first show will be on Monday 6th april in the"Grote Zaal" at Pakhuis de Zwijger, Amsterdam from 8pm to 10pm. Free entrance

DUTCH URBAN DIVA TOUR AT PANAMA AMSTERDAM

On Wedenesday 21st January Karima, Berget Lewis and Michelle David will be performing at Panama in Amsterdam as part of the "Dutch Urban Diva" tour. The evening will consist of original material from the three ladies as well as covers of some well known Soul and R&B classics. Tickets cost €12,50 if bought in advance or  €15 on the door. MICHELLE LAUNCHES HER OWN BOOK

Michelle has written and published her own book "Reflections" which is based on her spiritual and thought provoking text from her website Inspirational Radio.  The full color pocket sized hardback book contains 12 personally written "Reflections" by Michelle herself, one for each month of 2009 together with carefully selected photographs to illustrate the essence of the text.

Each book ordered will be personally signed by Michelle.

MICHELLE JOINS WOMEN INC AMSTERDAM

Michelle has joined the WOMEN inc. organization. A group of women with bravado who stand for change and inspire other women because they move borders and take risks. The WOMEN inc. group meet every Monday evening from 20:00 to 21:30 at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam (Free entrance). The next meeting with the theme "Women & Poverty" takes place on Monday September 22nd. During the evening there will be talks by guest speakers and Michelle will give a short talk on empowerment and awareness together with a short performance. Find out more at the women inc website.

DONALD DAVID JR. PHOTO CHOSEN FOR STREETLAB ZUIDOOST EXPO

A photograph of Michelle's son, Donald David JR. which was taken on the metro in Amsterdam has been selected to be exhibited in the Streetlab Zuid Oost Photo Project. The Photo together with others taken by 5 photographers will exhibited around the streetlab event ground. The event takes place from Sept 10th to Sept 13th. SALT AT THE AMSTERDAM UITMARKT AUGUST 31ST 2008

Michelle together with the other members of gospel group SALT will be making a return visit to this years Amsterdam Uitmarkt. The Uitmarkt will take place on 29th, 30th and 31st August around Amsterdam's Oostelijke Haven area. SALT will be live on stage on the Grolsch podium on Sunday 31st August from 16:00 to 16:45.

CARRÉ'S GOSPEL CELEBRATION -THEATER  CARRÉ AMSTERDAM

Theater Carré Amsterdam & Moonstone Entertainment were proud to present a major gospel concert "Carré's Gospel Celebration" which was held at Amsterdam's prestigious Royal Theater Carré on March 31st 2008. This special event was a spectacular evening and included performances from some of Hollands top gospel artists including groups SALT, Gentle Voices & One Name One Heart as well as solo performances from Michelle David, Angelique Kroondijk & Brandon Delagraentiss. Special guest star from the U.S. was none other than gospel legend Kim Burrell.

Representing Gospel Michelle will be performing at this years Women inc Festival on December 2nd 2007 from 13:00 to 13:30. Organised by women for women, the Women inc. Festival is a two day event in Amsterdam which celebrates strong women across all cultures and ages through a range of lectures, workshops and events.

VINZZENT & BIG, BLACK & BEAUTIFUL CHARITY CD SINGLE

Big, Black & Beautiful and Dutch singer Vinzzent have got together to record a charity CD single "Geef Uw Lach". The proceeds from the CD will go to Gemeente De Steen and will be used to support poor and homeless famillies during the winter months. The CD goes on sale Friday 16th of November.

SOLITARY SISTERS: SPIRITUAL VIRGINS EXHIBITION

Michelle together with other singers and gospel artists will be performing during the Museumnight at the closing of the Solitary Sisters: Spiritual Virgins exhibition at the Ons' Lieve Heer Op Solder Museum, Amsterdam on November 3rd. The exhibition comprises of a series of presentations displayed throughout the museum by twelve contempary artists who have been commissioned to produce work on the theme of women and their religion.
